The traffic-free testing stack
The single biggest mistake low-traffic teams make is running A/B tests anyway. Without sufficient sample size, every test result is noise. The fix is a different testing stack designed for low-traffic situations. (1) The 5-second test identifies whether the message lands at all — show the page for 5 seconds, ask "what does this product do?" If 7 out of 10 colleagues outside your team can't answer, your headline is the problem and no amount of A/B testing fixes it. (2) AI-vision analysis catches structural problems (missing trust signals, weak CTAs, unclear hierarchy) without traffic data. (3) A $50 paid micro-test on Reddit or Meta gives you 200–500 real visitors fast — enough to see if the bounce rate is catastrophic or fine. (4) Cohort interviews with 8–12 target buyers reveal objections you wouldn't catch from analytics.
What "enough traffic" actually means
For valid A/B tests at 95% confidence detecting a 10% lift on a 5% baseline conversion rate, you need roughly 1,000 conversions per variant — about 20,000 visitors per variant. If your page gets 500 weekly visitors, a single test takes 16+ months to reach significance. By then your product has shifted, the market has shifted, and the result is meaningless. Use the alternative stack until you cross the threshold.
The pre-launch protocol
Before launching, run all four. (1) Show the static design to 10 people outside your team for 5 seconds each. (2) Run an AI page analysis for structural feedback. (3) Send the URL to 5 target customers and ask them to talk through their reaction. (4) Spend $100 on a one-day Reddit or Meta ad to your target audience. After this stack, you'll catch 80% of the issues a 6-month A/B test would catch — in 5 days.
