Coaching websites have a specific problem: they tend to sound exactly like every other coaching website. "Unlock your potential." "Live your best life." "Transform your business." These phrases have been used so many times they've lost all meaning.
The average coaching site scores 40 out of 100. The gap between a generic coaching page and a high-converting one isn't design skill — it's specificity. The coaches who convert the best are those who can articulate exactly who they serve, what outcome they deliver, and how they're different.
Why coaching pages fail
The #1 mistake on coaching websites is leading with credentials instead of outcomes. "ICF-certified executive coach with 20 years of experience" is about you. "I help Series A founders build leadership teams that don't implode during hypergrowth" is about the client. The second converts because it names the person, the problem, and the outcome.
- Be specific about who you serve — "I coach everyone" converts no one. "I help burnt-out tech managers transition to fulfilling careers" instantly qualifies visitors. Specific positioning pages tend to score substantially higher on Copy & Messaging.
- Show transformation, not process — Clients don't buy a "6-week program." They buy the outcome of that program. Lead with results: revenue increases, promotions earned, clarity achieved, relationships saved.
- Make pricing transparent — Hiding all pricing behind a discovery call filters out serious buyers who want to self-qualify. At minimum, show a price range or "Starting at $X" to set expectations.
- Client stories over testimonials — A quote saying "Great coach!" is worthless. A story saying "I was stuck in a $80K job for 5 years. After 3 months of coaching, I negotiated a $130K role and a VP title" is worth thousands.
The discovery call funnel
For most coaches, the conversion goal is a discovery call booking. The best coaching pages make this effortless: a Calendly or similar tool embedded directly on the page, with clear expectations about what happens on the call ("15 minutes, no pressure, we'll discuss your goals and whether I can help"). Every extra step between interest and booking loses clients.
