How does it work?

Why isn't my brand cited even though I rank #1 on Google?

AI engines weight different signals. Google rewards backlinks and on-page SEO. AI engines weight third-party mentions (G2, Reddit, ProductHunt, niche blogs), structured data, and content extractability. A brand can rank #1 on Google with strong backlinks but be invisible in AI search if it lacks the off-site mention footprint.

How can I increase my citation rate?

Three highest-leverage actions: (1) build presence on the review/list sites in your category (G2, Capterra, ProductHunt, Wirecutter), (2) earn organic Reddit and Hacker News mentions through useful content, (3) ensure your landing page has FAQ schema and llms.txt. AI engines weight these signals heavily for citation decisions.

How often does citation behavior change?

Significantly with each model release (every 3–9 months) and incrementally with each fine-tune. Brands frequently see major shifts — both up and down — when new models launch. We recommend quarterly retests at minimum.

Does this work for B2C brands?

Yes, but the queries differ. B2C citation queries are often product-category ('best running shoes for flat feet') or comparison ('Nike vs On Cloud'). The methodology and report structure are the same.

Can I track competitor citations over time?

Yes — re-running the same query set quarterly produces a comparable trend. Most brands see clear patterns: competitors entering or leaving the consideration set, descriptions evolving, citation sources shifting.
